Poetry is a way of artistic expression which is never missing in any culture in the world. But unfortunately, many times poetry is seen in those cultures like something only reserved for a minority. The idea of The World, a Giant Poem is to share poetry with everybody, to bring poetry to the streets and make people give their poetical contribution in a collective and simultaneous festival of words and emotions.
The purpose of this Urban Performance, which is being developed in an international rank, is to offer the poetical voice of the world, a voice which can be heard by letting people express using the tools of poetry and their hidden talents.
And people express a lot of beautiful things; people from different cultures, languages, faith, social backgrounds, etc. join together to contribute with their verses to a Poem of 120 meters long.
Cities from different continents and different ways of facing life are linked through this artistic and social performance. Hopefully, the “Giant Poem” is giving some references to make real the understanding, dialogue and peace among people and among countries in the world.
The development of the Giant Poem is the following:
A 120 meters long paper is prepared in a main street, square or emblematic building in a certain city. The first verses of the poem are written and people are free to continue the poem with some verses until the paper is over. Normally, the whole process takes place during a day.
During the process, we help people though different techniques and artistic support to facilitate their contribution and the entire result of the Giant Poem.
These results have been really impressive.
