Objetives

The objectives pursued by the project can be summarized in the following points:

-To promote dialogue and mutual understanding between different cultures.

-Promote the active participation of society through the creative expression in an artistic and cultural event.

-Draw attention to poetry as a tool of communication and social development.

-To propose to participants a reflective and lyrical vision about their own reality and their belonging to a globalized world.

-Recognize and promote the cultural richness that comes from diversity.

-Build bridges for direct contact of society and art, placing art outside the conventional spaces.

-Create a collective poem that can be represented as "poetic voice" of the city that created it.

-Promote reading and writing.

People get surprised by the proposal. Hundreds of people come to Giant Poem space to participate in it. We revert a conventional trend: if people do not approach poetry (reading and writing), then, we prepare poetry to approach people.

This proposal can get valuable information from a sociological and anthropological perspective about collective feeling of the inhabitants of a city. These data represent an original contribution that can be useful for other disciplines.

This proposal is a concrete realization of the strategy, developed by Dr. Saturnino de la Torre for "sentipensar" to operate the integrated learning: concepts, metaphors, imagination, feelings, participation, debate, involvement in a direct connection between everyday life and art.
